A blog on this???? Where is the content? A flashy heading doesn't make up for anything, dude!!!! :) Post the page, I am here with my comments :D (adi-idi ini blog-iloodeyum veno!)
even without anything written about it... I completely agree with him... Its absolutely bullshit... illogical, stupid, idiotic, foolish and absolutely childish... just another unscrupulous use of media by a few who didn't have any work... more comments after the author puts in his thoughts...
@Soo -> The blog will be online, once i'm onto a hi(gher) speed n/w. Yeah...time for a fight! GRRRrrrr... @Vimal -> Good that you share the same thought as mine.. Lets put the points together in one place! And that will happen soon..
This famous and sacred Mayan site, located in the Yucatan peninsula in southern Mexico, is about one thouand years old and showcases the Mayan-Toltec civilisation. The Kukulcan temple, also called El Castillo and the Temple of the Warriors, are both focal points of Chichen Itza.
2. Petra, Jordan
The Nabataean ruins, carved in the steep rocks at Petra, lie in a valley between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba.
Once the capital of a sect of cave-dwelling Semites, who spoke Aramaic, located on an early caravan route to Gaza, the Persian Gulf and Damascus, Petra was a flourishing city.
3. Taj Mahal
July 9, 2007
At a glittering ceremony in Lisbon held on 07-07-07, the world inherited a brand new list of seven wonders.
This list was not put together by an ancient historian.
Or a Greek scholar aeons ago.
It was created by all of us across the world when we participated in a massive online and SMS campaign!.
4. The Coliseum, Rome
The Leaning Tower of Pisa didn't even make the semi-finals, but the solitary Roman representative was one of the first monuments to get a confirmed spot on the list of new seven wonders of the world.
5. The Great Wall of China
The Chinese call the Great Wall -- which runs along the border of Mongolia from the Shanhai Pass to Lop Nur -- Wanli Changcheng which mean the long wall of 10,000 Li (a Chinese unit of length).
6. Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro
The statue of Christ, which was unveiled in 1931 and is locally called Cristo Redentor, has become a symbol for the city of Rio.
It is 125 feet high and stands on the 2,300 ft Corcovado hill, which along with Sugar Loaf mountain towers over Rio harbour.
Patriotically yes... But, should we be thinking logically and sensibily when we are moving towards the concept of global village. Should we still believe in compartamentalization based on geographic boundaries?
@Anony -> I think Vimal Gasper has answered you. To answer your specific question "Aren't u happy dat the TAJ is in ????", well, what does this give me, or you, or any other Indian citizen? Pride? Half a kilo of that?? Will they be taking any steps to protect the monument? (Will they be allowed to do so, in the first place?!) Good that you voted 10 times. I would rather have used this fund as donation to an Orphanage. The difference here is, doing something for the country so that the country would prosper VS doing something for the country so that the country could show off!
The 2nd comment says "My country needed a Wonder of the World". This point has already been discussed in the blog! Heard of a country, where all the Mobile Service Providers waivered the charges for sending SMS's to cast vote for THEIR monument? Where is this discussion leading to? Are we actually finding out the "New 7 Wonders of the World?". Or the "New 7 populated and technologically advanced, n7w-voting-friendly countries?" Think !
*If you wanna know, which country did this 'charge-waivering', google it out. You could ask me too !
we indians are just tooo gud in cribbing ...smething gud happens ...we crib ...smethin bad happens we crib ........rite?And talking abt half a kilo of pride ....lemme say ....u dnt measure pride this way....smeone tells u gud abt ur country ...the place u belong to .....its but obvious that u will feeel gud .....
@Anony -> Good thoughts there. And true as well. We just sit down and crib and never put anything into action. Perhaps, you havent read the newer blog on the same topic. Among the main topics discussed are: 1. the questionable authenticity of the whole selection system. 2. the need of such a thing at all, in the first place. Indians are already proud about Taj Mahal, Kutab Minar and the likes. Do we need the n7w certificate again? Shouldnt we be happy that we have already figured out in an earlier "7 wonder" list? Please go through the newer write-up and share your thoughts. Let me know your comments. And feel free to air /share it across :-)
Shouldnt we be happy that we have already figured out in an earlier "7 wonder" list? ??????? DEFINITELY NOT cmon ..resting on ur past laurels is a strict NO NO ...:)))though i must appreciate the Extensive research you have dne on this topic ....bravo !!!! :)))
Then lets conduct this 'beauty' contest every year, what say ? ;-) 3 years, in this age is called 'generation gap'. My bro and me are more than a generation apart. Considering that, we should conduct this 'event' every month ;-)) Coz a year is too long a duration! Thanks for your comments. Really appreciate it. Keep writing :)
