The Good Do Exist !
Thalassery Bus Stand. 8.30PM
At that time of the day, the bus stand premises are more of interstate buses. The crowd will be of Bangalore-bound IT professionals. There is a tall neon lamp post - the umbrella type, with so many lamps on the periphery - that lights up the entire area.
Alright, the ambience description is not going to add any beauty to the story. And well, its not a 'story' either. Its a true incident :-)
Rat reached the bus stand by 8.15PM. Collected the boarding pass from the Travel Agency. And is waiting near the bus bay for the bus to arrive. For a normal IT fellow, who doesnt have an 8GB ipod or a high end mp3-camera featured mobile phone, the only timepass will be to run the eyes through the happenings around.. It was a Tuesday evening. And not the normal Sunday rush could be seen. Just a few fellows here and there..
A gang of 3 caught my notice. Coz they were discussing the Mumbai blasts and the fall-outs from that. Obviously from the IT fraternity, well-dressed and visibly 'informed' about the global happenings..
Not far from me, and the trio gang, was spotted one of those dint-eat-for-weeks persons... Aged, shabbily dressed, he came straight to me. And I nodded him off, as I always do..
He went to the trio gang.. They are not directly in my line of sight now, as they are behind me. Couldnt really make out what they told him. I assumed, they too got rid of him. Not any sounds from there, after some time.. Curious, I looked around.. I found the old man walking towards the nearby street food vendor. He got a plate of meal. The trio paid. All this while, never sympathetic, pun-making or to best put it, not even interested in bothering what the old man is upto.
The old man happily finished his meal, and left.
The trio still discussing global financial crisis :)
What I liked about them is that their thought-process. They could have easily shown him the door. Or rather, give him a few coins to get rid of him. But instead, they extended the right kind of help, in the right amount.
Felt like walking up to them and telling "right thing to do".
But the bus came, and I got in..
(Even otherwise, the Mr.Serious in moi wouldnt have walked up to them :D)

Apt gesture from them
Yes, absolutely.
A very normal gang of Mallus from the IT fraternity showing this level of maturity and thoughtfulness was a pleasant sight.
