Yo! Yercaud

A 2 day trip.
But lemme make it a 1-part travelogue...

The initial part was very much the same as the previous trips.
Pick up Dennis, go park the bike in office, join the rest of the
gang for Breakfast at Home Treat.

So the team is:
Rat,Sand,Den,KK

KK mite be a new name to a few.. He is not a freequent tourist.
His weekends are busy. Rumours (spread by KK himself) say
that he spends weekends in office. But the rest of the gang don
care to believe it ;-)
If u cant finish your work on weekdays, this industry is not for
you! True, not all can be smart, like me. Hahaha

Had a tube change from BTM for the indica.
Then filled up the pockets at the UTI ATM on Hosur Road.
Dil Chahta Hai.
Yup.
Tour is flagged off !

The car is steered by safe hands.
KK took up the role of the navigator.
Den n Rat in the back seat, enjoying the song n scenery n drive.

Sand had corrected the wheel alignment, which meant speeding
in excess of 120kmph is no BIG deal !

The drive is thru the famous(?) Hosur Road..
(Techies don like anything which has an abbreviation HR)
The road is notorious for accidents - 9 out of 10 of 'em involving trucks
Here is one of 'em (Dint hav time to capture the remaining 8...)

About an hour into the drive, and we were greeted by long queue
of vehicles on the road. The left side of the divider was deserted.
The Q is on the right side. Nothing moved.. Just ppl moved..
We got out for a check. And what v found was stunning.
Thick white smoke at a distance.. This is trouble, KK murmured.

Leaving Sand in the car, v moved closer to the smoke centre on foot.
It was a lorry carrying clothes, which had toppled on to its side, n
burning out of control.. Fire fighters were at the site, to quench the
fire. Police took control, and diverted the traffic. Soon we were back
on track

Then it was a peaceful drive. Bought energy drinks on the way.
(Health drinks were packed safe in the back of the car)
:-)

Not long did v go before Den diverted our attention to the rocky
mountain on the right of the road..
"200 million years ago, that was an active volcano. Lava would come
out every other day"
While Kk n Sand were still in shock, Rat was quick to pounce back,
"Man, you have a Sharp Memory!"
Giggles n laughs outperformed 'Dhakka Lakka Bukka'

Pit stop was at 13.14, and was demanded by the machine..
The engine was gettin hot!

Back on the roads..
We had stuffed so many items in the tummies, that the lunch got
delayed to 2.20PM. That was at Salem

Post lunch was hill climb.
35 km of climb.
The travel guide said "Tallest point is Shevaroy temple, at 5326ft"
Den grabbed his Reliance mobile, and spent some quality time on
it before screaming out, "It is 2540.73 mm above sea level"

Now What Was That ?!!!
:D

Covered major mile stones..
Mile stones dint hav kms on 'em.. They tell u how many metres above
sea level, u r now....

20 hair pin curves took us to the top of the hill (at 3.30PM)

Getting rooms was difficult.
But we managed to get 2 double rooms, with TV n geyser.
Just a few mins in the room, n out we went.
Tea first (dint get vada from that hotel) :((

First destination - Ladies Seat.

Even now, clueless, y it is called so..
Its a nice view from the 'seat' though.

(Click on the image above for a bigger picture.. Applies to other pics as well)

A small climb, n u r at the Gents Seat.
Nice view again..
The unattended fire on the way up caught our attention

KK had big plans with the fire... (thats when v returned from GS)

Meanwhile Den tried his luck at rock climbing :D

In Geo's absence, this guy took up the act.. Doin monkey tricks :-)
He dared jump out of the view point for, what in the end became, an
awesome pic

Meanwhile Rat posed for a philmi photo of this kind...

Time to go bak.. n KK wants to smoke.. But no lighter :(
So he did this!

That was smart ! :D

Back to base..

Oh, did i tell you ? No..
Yercaud is pretty much of the same structure as that of Kodai
and Ooty (I hav been only to Kodai..)
There is a lake, at the heart, and a road around the lake..
Take radially outward roads to go to different attractions..
The attractions, listed out in the pic below...

(Dennis spent hours on this pic.. But the pic is no good!)

Food time.
Silver oak in Shevaroy Hotel is our destination.

That's a chicken sizzler..
Much of sound and smoke, than anything else..
Is quite useful to invite the attention (and curse) of fellow
diners..

Back to room..
Energy drinks..
KBC..
Munnabhaai MBBS.
ZZZzzzzz

The second line was a lie.
:D

Over (but not out)
