Travelogue - Mysore Pattanam

it was Robin calling to wake me up.

Rob n Rony reached my home at 5AM.
I was seeing Rony after quite some time - more than a yr!

Left for the pick-up point - Madiwala Ayyappa temple.
Kiron, Jins ready in Bolero.

Next pickup for Alex.
Jins gave the directions, and finally v reached the church.
Alex was in a night-out there.
Jins stepped out and asked the guard - Alex undo ?
:D
And to our surprise, the so-called guard himself turned out to be Alex.
He was sitting in a womb-posture all draped in a sheet.

Next pick-up for Aneesh.
As usual, he showered his 'praises' for reaching him in time.
(During all our trips, he was the longest 'waiter')

And shortly, Sand comes in his indica along with Geo n Sow.
Started the trip for Mysore at 6AM.

Indica had Sand,Geo,Jins,Sow,Rob
Bolero had Kiron,Ron,Alex,Aneesh,Rat

I wonder, whehther Jins asked his TM qn - "Nammal engottaa povunney?"

Lotsa goals in Bolero (so should it be in Indica)
Songs from my USB stick were being played.
Songs like "Sukhamaanee.." and "Ormakkayi.." injected nostalgic memories into Alex.
And he said "Ayyoo.. Please. Ee pattonnu maattuvo?"

And among the discussion topics was the proposal dialogue by Aakash in DCH (from the pub)

Down the road (?) Alex started sleeping on Rony's laptop.
2 hrs of journey, and we reached "Lokaruchi"
Rony called Alex.
Alex woke up, with half closed eyes to ask:
"Current thinnunna jeeviyude perenthaa?"

Paavathine vishamippikenda ennu vichaarichu, I said 'Rat'
"NO", said Alex.
"Electiricity office-ile manager-aa"
Ellaarum sheri vechu, thalayaatti.

The hotel.
A 'Gandhian' hotel.
Veg.
All waiters in Khadar.
Looks like an Ashram.

Ellarum oru table-inte chuttum iruppaayi.
Alex-inte dicole:

Ordered idli-vada / poori-masala for 10 of us.
10 coffeeyum adichu.
pinne membodikku 3 kesari bath-um.

Bill vannappo Alex paranjathu orma vannu.
For 10, the bill came to 336 !
Coffee 10 roopa!
1 idli + 1 vada -> 20 roopa !!

9.30AM - landed in SDM Mgmt Inst , Mysore.
Goose was waiting outside in his Bermudas.

Goose "Door adachittu lock cheythaa mathi" !!

On the way to his room, v observed that the warden's room is locked from outside.
When asked, Goose said "Ivide enikku father illa"

All of us had a bird's i-view of the LH.
Goose said that his friends (galz) were eager to meet us.
And so were V :-)
So pettennirangi LH-ilottu vittu.

Just when v were about to start, a 4th gal turned up:
"Vimall.. Vimaalll.."

Aval "V were supposed to go to the lab in the morning.

So off we went out of SDM.
At the gates, v stopped to discuss "Where to Go"
Decided to go to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.
Now v dont know the route..
Asked a gentle man standing by the auto stand.
He pointed to the west and said. Straight 2nd right 1st left,
without even blinking his eyes.
Nammal purappettu..
Pettennu kaanaam autokkaar kai kaanikkunnu, from the back.
vandi nirthi.
Autokkaar paranju. Route is correct. But the hand pointed to the wrong direction.
It was east, and not west..
30 mins drive and v were there.
Motham nadannu karangi.
Saw birds of just 2 varieties - crows and pelicans.
Other birds were like "Vineeth in Perumazhakkaalam"

Sanctuary kandirangi.
Next destination Sreerangapattanam.
On the way v saw a hotel.
But oruthanum nirthiyilla.
Vittu pidichu.

Again, vazhi ariyilla.
Indica was in front. Avar nirthi.
Jins , to a passer-by "Bossey.. onnu ninney.."
:D

When v reached Sreerangapattanam, pettennu bodhodhayam undaayi.
namukku kazhichittu varaam.

Back to the hotel.
11 chorum 4 chicken fry-um 2 thairum oru omlette-um.
Hotel kaaliyaayappo avidunnu irangi.

Sreerangapattanam is a nice place (tickets only 5 rupee apiece)

There is a small monument in there, among many other things like
fort, kulikkadavu etc.
On the way to the monument:
Robin "Nisaaminte kaalathundaakkiyathaanennu thonnunnu"
Jins "Nisaamo ? Naisaamalle ?"
Robin "Njaan Nisaam enna vilikkaaru. nee vilichaa vivaramariyum!"

In that monument, history is depicted in words, framed on to the wall.
All of us went and gathered around one of the frames.

Rony "Naale pareeksha onnumillallo? adutha sthalathottu poykkoode?"

V guyz finished 'surfing' in less than 15 minutes.
Alex was still inside.
We rested on the lawn waiting for Alex.
Finally he came and started discussion.
Ee marthanda varmayum Tippu sulthaanum okke samakaalikaraayirunnu.
Jins "Samakaalikaro ? ennu vechaa ??"
Rony "Ennu vechaa kaalinokke ore neelamaayirunnu ennu"

In the onward discussion, Alex discovered that v had
Circusum poraattavum in 6th
Urmila in 7th
Vivekandan in 8th
Marthanda varma in 9th
and ( ?? in 10th ) njaan marannu poyi :-S
Nobody questioned his findings.

Next destination was the place where Tipu's father's cemetery lies.

30 mins there and it was tea time.
Back to the same hotel.
Chaaya kudichu mineral water-um vaangi sthalam vittu.

Next destination : Vrindavan Gardens.
(I have a panoramic of the Gardens. Very catchy!)

Kurachu foreigners undayirunnu.
Geo camerayum kondu purake koodi.

Now I'm in bandage :((

Lights on by about 7PM.
Musical fountain at 7.30PM.
Musical fountain has a balcony near it, for the visitors to sit and watch the show.
V preferred to watch the show closely, by the side of the fountain.
While all eyes were on the fountain, a few eyes on the visitors.
Yes, those eyes were ours ;-)

Boy , it was one amazing thing - imean the fountain.
Splendid display of co-ordinated aquatic optics (??)

Vrindavan was the last spot.
Time for dinner, and v were in Mysore town - Sudha Hotel.
Dosha/fried rice/noodles/gobi manchurian..
Back to SDM to drop Gasper.
V dropped him and fled like flu.
Coz Liz was hanging around !

Off from SDM at 10.
Stopped to hav tea at around 12. I was sleeping.
Back in Blore at 1.45 AM.
End of a successful tour.

PS: I had a better title for the Travellogue. It resembles "Mandanmaar Londonil"
But taking into consideration the wider audience (no not Lee), I refrained from doing that.
