Robbery Attempt

This is the mail which I sent to all my colleagues on March30, 2005
_____________________________________________________

Sorry for multicasting, but I want all of you to be informed..

Koramangala has never been a safe place to commute.
I've heard umpteen number of terrible stories from my frenz.
But this one comes from my personal experience.

Yesterday (Mar29) I left from office at 8.15PM. I usually walk the 3.5 Km stretch to my home in Madiwala, along the
service road adjacent to the Sarjapur road.
Midway btwn Krupanidhi college and Koramangala Water Tank, 2 guyz on bike stopped me.
They asked my name and my whereabouts.
The rider was literally annoyed, when he learnt that "I dont know Kannada"
He accused me of passing comments on a girl(his "sister" ) on the road.
And that I sent her filthy text messages and gave missed calls.
(Incidentally, I had my mobile in my hand, and I was sending msg to a friend of mine)
He said that his "sister" pointed me out and said "this is the guy"

They demanded that I go with them to the place where his "sister" is and confirm it straightaway.
I said NO. Bring her here.
After a series of arguments, they agreed to bring her to the place and left on the bike.
In the mean time, I msged my friend, alerting him on the situation, and that I may need help.
Meanwhile, a bike came speeding, almost hit me. I moved back. A hand came out to grab the mobile from my hand.
They did not get hold of the mobile. It fell down. I collected the mobile and ran after the bike.
The bike stopped abt 200m ahead of me. I was still running towards them.
The bike speeded towards me, then took a side road and fled..

I couldnt note down the bike registration number.. But I can identify the guyz by their face.
I reported the incident to the traffic police at the Water tank, but he was helpless.
He asked me to register a complaint in Audugodi Police Station.
But when I said I dont have the bike number, he said 'better leave it..'

So dear colleagues:
1. Please dont commute on your foot, late in the night.
2. Please dont display your mobile while on road, especially if it is a fancy model.
3. And please exercise caution and dont stop for strangers.
