Long Vacation

Yet another house-visit. And a come-back piece would have grown sidewise by a foot or two. Coz I'm going for a 11 day vacation! Buhahahahaa

Its gonna be eat, sleep, TV time again.
Of course, there will be a hanging star to give me company in sitting idle.
And to give me company on the dining table would be kg's of creamy yummy colorful cakes.
Christmas cakes. Alas...those cakes would be giving me company, as long as they last :-D

Back on Jan2.
Till then, have a safe fun filled holidays.
Wish you all a Very Happy New Year 2008 !

Signing off this year, with a self-designed Christmas Card (s/w courtesy: mspaint) :-P

Some Changes

HTML is Hyper Text Markup Language.
My knowledge about it ends at that dot in the above line... But still managed to make some changes to the page template. The base template (with left and right panels) is the brain child of Geo. Thanks Geo !

Well the changes done are very minor. Some changes in the left panel.. Kicked out a few links. Bid adieu to a few idle bloggers. Wake up and give me a chance to add you back !!!

Also added a list of labels. This would be a helpful grouping (for me) to later check, for instance, which are the trips that have not yet been covered :)

Talking about trips, 2008 will see the rocking guyz embarking onto (yet another) Goa trip. The initial 'all-bike' plan is almost dropped, coz the distance amounts to a whooping 560 km. That would be 12 hours of biking. Thatz a lil too much!

Coming back to the 'changes', the last change done is the footer. Scroll down to end of the page or hit Ctrl-End to see what rubbish, I've put there..

Off the topic, there is a change in the way I see things now. I CAN SEE RED NOW!! Buhahahahaaa. Thanks to this beauty below:

This was part of the SP road trip over the weekend.
Other interesting things that I bought include:
1. USB Pen Drive 4GB -> 1,100 Rs
2. Hard Disk 160GB -> 2,100 Rs
3. DVD Writer LG -> 1,100 Rs
4. RAM Hynix 512MB -> 950 Rs
5. Samsung Syncmaster 740NW -> 8,500 Rs

Cool prizes !
[All rates above, except item 5, are excluding tax 4% ]
[Prizes are published, expecting it would be of help to you. I recommend 740NW :-) ]

Summary of changes !

Apologize for the wide image. Its coz of the wide screen display.
(Q-jaaadaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!)

Jab We Again Met

Yes, I went for this movie for the 2nd time. It was just on Wednesday, that I had the premier show of the film. And today, on Friday, its a re-run of the movie. For a slightly elevated fare (160, compared to the 130 of wednesday). But it was a nice elevated seat too - the backmost row :)

This was the 'official' movie show. And luckily for me, all liked the show, and I could save my face. I dont remember going for any movie in my life for a second time screening, in a theatre. These days, I seem to be breaking a lot of records. Wonder whats next. A 3rd time show for the same movie ? Who knows !!

Soo is terribly unhappy that they werent informed while going for the movie, the 1st time. Have struck a deal of gombromise. Hope it works out well :)

Friday eve. Time to rock. Tomorrow is a pc shopping. Got to dump the unloyal big dabba and get a TFT monitor in place!

OPT: Jab We Met - Movie Review

It has been a while, since we got to see a nicely directed fresh movie. Jab We Met classifies as one! Competing with the likes of SRK (Om Shanti Om) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya, this movie has come out as a clear winner. When Soo had sent the first shots of a list of movies, this movie was opted out by many in the group. Particularly Gasper. But he ended up watching it 2nd time. With us, y'day (Dec12). The 10PM show at PVR.

Breaking the tradition, we reached the theatre with 10 minutes to spare. Something is seriously wrong with the guys. For the movie 'chocolate' (thats Malayalam, not the Hindi one) we reached the Galaxy theatre in Bommanahalli enroute Begur, a full 15 minutes before the show time! Phew.

When a movie starts with a low profile, it has the advantage that even if it flops, there wont be much of noise around it. Jab We Met was publicised in a good way alright, but not many favor the combination of Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor for unknown reasons. Personally, Shahid is one of my favorites, due to his dancing skills. Who cares if his lower row teeth is seriously disorganised ! Kareena has had a short stint (?) with Shahid in the real world. And during the release time, there was all sorts of drama done - Shahid-Kareena split, Saif-Kareena affair - and what not.

Well, getting straight into the movie, its a sheer confusion in the beginning, when it starts. Reminded us of Matrix (basically, anything that cant be understood, can be termed 'Matrix' :D ). The hero walks out from what looked like a board meeting, fully shattered, and walks aimlessly. Abandons his car, mobile, pager. Gets into the first bus. Lands up in the railway station. Walks into the train. And gets cozily seated on a seat. All this happening in more than 10 minutes. But the hero hasnt spoken a word yet.

To compensate for the lack of talk all this while, enters our heroine. She sits facing the hero, and opens her chatterbox. After having discussed almost everything on earth, when she started discussing about the moon, the hero decided. Enuff is enuff. Time to react. Thus, he opens his mouth and pours out all his anger onto her. What started on an angry note, ends up in an unexpectedly bonding friendship - between a guy who lives life in an organized planned serious manner, and a gal who sees life as it comes and is unaware of the existence of the word 'serious'.

The movie picks up pace and before too long, it was displayed 'interval' on the screen. Perhaps, post interval, the movie got into a bollywood shade. But still, entertaining, it was, all the while. All the scenes and sequences were superbly stitched together. Camera work was good. Acting was good too. There was good comedy sequences too. Perhaps, the only thing that seemed out of place was the last song 'Mauja Mauja'. But the popularity and the picturisation of the song made up for it.

A movie not to be missed. And as always, dont go to the movie with high expectations.

Rating: Must Watch
(Must Watch/Average/Dont Go)

Tail
1. Sitting in the 2nd row from the screen was a lil uncomfy. But very soon, all of us got involved into the movie (Gasper slept for some time past interval), and it was not a problem to us :)
2. The song, 'Yeh ishq' looked very nice, and the locations were good too. Like how DCH boosted traffic to Goa, this movie might do some good to Manali...
3. This was the 3rd attempt to watch the movie. The 1st time, it was a 12km biking that ended up in kicking. The 2nd time, the website said, its no use going all the way - it was sold out!

A Revelation !

I thought the toughest thing to do in this whole quasi-spherical earthly world would be to try and levitate oneself from the cozy-thick-cotton-separation-from-floor at 7 in the morning on a chilling cold, sun-risen-yet-dark-outside situation, having dozed off just about 6 and a half hours before. But thanks to the human invention nick-named nokia*, this Herculean task was accomplished with not much of fight between mind and body.

But then the revealing truth that dawned onto me later in the day (post-lunch, to be precise) was that even tougher it is to keep the eye-lids in semi-open state (full-open state is a far cry, so forget it) with the lecturer RIGHT in front of you (y did i opt for the front row??) and emanating longitudinal waves that, if painted in VIBGYOR, would be seen as a rainbow with a huge diameter, dangling over my head.

(Hard to believe that so far, I have typed only 3 sentences!! )

But it was a welcome break. A rejuvenating(?) one. Away from work. [ But away from songs and cubicle fun too :( ]

Since the training was scheduled in the head-office, it became a good opportunity for a bike trip. The return stretch of 15km was chilling, thanks to the rain.

Yaaaaaaawnnnnnnn... Its only 8.09PM and I feel like hitting the cozy-thick-cotton-separation-from-floor :-))

*Its an N-series. N1108 to be precise :-D

1. Got a nice wonderful treat at Grameen. Total veggy, but a change is good, once in a while :) An ice cream is pending, but thats okay. Thanks V !
2. Revived the playlist with all time favs - 'Tu tu hai wahi, Yaadon ki baarat, Khilte hain gul yahaan' among the goldies..
3. 3 days since I rebooted my PC @ofc. That classifies as a record :D
4. 3 days of training starting Thursday. A welcome break, into a classroom. (I still remember the school days, when I longed for a break from the classroom) :-S
5. The red-is-sin syndrome of my Monitor @home continues. We had been cajoling the monitor a lil too much these days, that now, she even refuses to wake up, without we giving a kick up-front!
6. Thanks to Sand-Soo for their ice cream treat :-) A totally unexpected surprise!
7. Got to watch a boogie woogie performance of Jai Kumar Nair on youtube. Videos posted by himself, I guess. Stump Stuna Stock !!!!!!!!
8. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is playing, and its time to get senti.... :'(
This song deserves a blog of its own... Will post soon...

Broadband @home

Buhahahahhahahaha !
(that sure is a villainous-roaring laugh)

Connected to internet now, @home - that makes it round-the-clock wired-to-internet ! It was on Nov17 that the BSNL engineer came and installed the modem. Since then, till today - the 1st of December - I had nice time talking to the customer care, 2 doses a day. 99% of the guyz at the other end were unprofessionally ignorant and hostile. But who cares. As long as its a toll free number, it goes well. Perhaps, this is why all the ISP's install a telephone along with their internet connection. (internet over cable is an exception. they dont giv a phone, and u end up empty pocket. Thatz exactly the reason, why I disconnected hathway internet)

Well, had only heard that BSNL broadband is rocket-fast. Now I can feel it! A 500KB download hardly takes 5 sec. Thats a kool 100KB/s d/l speed. I would term that 'fast' !

Now what does all this translate into ?
More blogs per month :-D
Buhahahaaa

Even while I'm writing this, two interesting things happened !
